Swift Pilot, the built-in AI
What Swift Pilot is, when it writes your emails, and how it hands over to your own AI key.
On this page
Who this is for: anyone who wants AI-written emails without setting up an AI account of their own, and anyone wondering what the Swift Pilot row in Settings is.
Swift Pilot is the AI built into Swift Outbox. It researches each lead’s website and writes their email, paid from your Swift Pilot credit. You do not need an OpenAI, Claude or Gemini account to use it.
Where to find it
Open Settings and the AI connections tab. Swift Pilot is always the last row of AI connections, marked Built in.

When Swift Pilot writes your emails
You never switch Swift Pilot on or off yourself. It follows one simple rule:
| Your situation | Swift Pilot shows | Who writes the emails |
|---|---|---|
| No AI connection of your own is turned on, and you have credit | In use | Swift Pilot, charged to your credit |
| Your own AI connection is turned on, and you have credit | Backup | Your own AI key first, at no charge. If every own connection fails or reaches its budget, Swift Pilot writes and is charged to your credit. |
| Your own AI connection is turned on, and you have no credit | Backup: no credit | Your own AI key only |
| No own connection, and the credit is used up | Out of credit | Nobody: emails wait until you top up or add your own key |

Turn all your own connections off and Swift Pilot writes every email, paid from your credit.
What is different about Swift Pilot
- No setup. No key, no model to choose. It is ready the moment you have credit.
- It cannot be edited, tested or removed. Its switch only shows its state.
- Every call is charged from your Swift Pilot credit by the text it reads and writes. See Swift Pilot credit.
Your AI settings (instructions for every email, creativity and so on) apply to Swift Pilot too.
Which plans include it
Every plan can use Swift Pilot. Paid plans add free credit every month (Starter $5, Growth $10, Agency $30). On the Free plan, buy credit or connect your own key.
Common questions
Is Swift Pilot as good as my own key? It writes good, personal emails for most campaigns. Research, previews and every campaign setting work the same as with your own key. The difference is that your own key lets you choose the model and is billed by your provider, not from your credit.
Can I use both? Yes. Your own connections are tried first, in the order you set. Swift Pilot is the last fallback: it writes only if every own connection fails or has reached its budget, and only while you have credit. It is pay as you go, so you pay only for what it writes. Bought credit never expires.
